second-guessing everything you said and done
she had been coming to this spot for a few days now. she made it seem like a daily picnic routine, just in case a curious stranger were to spot her. she didn't want them judging her hesitation, thinking she was a coward. well, she kinda was though. under a shady tree a few yards away from the bridge's entrance, eddie let out a audible sigh. would she do it today? probably not, but the temptation was growing stronger lately. after all, she was supposed to go on her pokemon journey. a new adventure full of excitement, but with this darkness there wasn't anywhere to go!
the brunette had been contemplating traveling to the other island, but she just couldn't get herself to do it. her legs were stubborn, they wouldn't budge, and the sense of danger sent goosebumps down her arms. other trainers had done it plenty of times, she shouldn't be this worried. but as she looked out past the ocean, to the stormy dark side that was the isle of hephaestus eddie couldn't help but shudder.
her flabebe had been noticing these wandering glances to the other side. the small fairy type sat on top of a pink pokepuff, holding its flower by it's side. eddie herself had a sandwich and a book opened in front of her, not like she was paying attention to either. Flabebe floated with it's flower over to her book, and circled a passage with the stem;
“bran thought about it. 'can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'that is the only time a man can be brave,' his father told him.”
eddie noticed and blushed a little bit. "b-but!" trainer and pokemon made eyecontact "i don't think…i just don't think i can, ok?"
