POSITIVE Loyal;; Perhaps one of his greatest assets, Lydian is just as faithful as he is tenacious, displaying a canine-like dedication to those that he considers friend, and he will fight tooth and nail to support them if the need arises. Wary;; Always mistrustful of others, Lydian more or less lives his life waiting for someone to try to hurt him or take advantage of him, and as such, it's a rare thing for someone to be able to take something from him or hurt him emotionally. Dignified;; Lydian actually can act with quite an air of dignity that he wants to, and though it usually only comes out when he's turning his nose up against something he thinks he's better than, it also displays itself in a quiet kind of elegance when he's distancing himself from others, even if it is out of pride rather than "genuine" refinement. Affectionate;; Despite only happening once in a blue moon, Lydian can actually be surprisingly warm when he wants to be, a side of himself that usually only his Pokemon or his sister Lina get to see, though it's obvious in the way that he'll interact with his Pokemon, hard with his words but gentle with his hands. Determined;; Once Lydian has set his mind on something, he's not the type to ever really alter his path, no matter how hard the going gets, and in this trait he can be just as tenacious as any Granbull, dogged and persistent until he's accomplished whatever it was he had named as his goal. Quiet;; Believe it or not, for all of his grumpiness, Lydian really prefers to keep to himself, and when left to his own devices, he's more than content to find somewhere to sit and watch everyone else interact with each other, though he will enjoy a good chuckle at the expense of others. NEGATIVE Pessimistic;; Lydian is just the sort of person who tends to see the negative parts of life, and even if he may prefer to call it 'being realistic', the fact of the matter is that it's gone a little past being a realist for him to fall under such a label. Harsh;; For the vast majority of people, Lydian tends to speak cruelly, seeing no reason to pull any punches, whether they be verbally or mentally, and as such, his words rarely do not cause some sort of reaction, especially since he tends to speak his mind and isn't afraid to bite to get his way. Blunt;; If you're looking for someone who will sugarcoat something for you, don't go to Lydian - he's the sort to tell someone how something is in the real world, and unfortunately for everyone else, that usually means that he delivers bad news the same way he would a sucker punch, swift and merciless. Antisocial;; Lydian doesn't play well with others, and as a matter of fact, whenever possible he will avoid being around people, preferring the company of his Pokemon - one of the few people who manage to maintain his acceptance is actually his sister, Lina. Quick-tempered;; As someone who's almost always ready for a fight, especially to protect his pride, Lydian tends to have a rather short fuse before he snaps, lashing out at whoever it is that has managed to earn his ire. Prideful;; If you've ever seen someone so determined to defend his own honor, that would have to be Lydian, the young male hating being looked down upon in any way, so much so that he would bite the hand of someone who tries to feed him, viewing himself perfectly capable of hunting his own food. HISTORY & POKEMORPH

Lydian was born the eldest of two children, but if he was ever bitter about the attention shifting from being one-on-one to being one-on-two, he never betrayed it. In fact, he accepted his little sister into his life without too much issue, and he was generally rather good at keeping the other children from bullying Lina. He had a generally scary aura, and growing up in a small town located in Kalos, he had very few friends. Even if that worried his parents slightly, it was never something that bothered him. The other kids were all concerned with themselves anyway, so what should he care about them? Of course, his parents had a rather... different view of the situation. You see, his father was an elite Coordinator, while his mother was on a short list of competitors expected to one day become a Gym Leader; as might be imagined, they wanted their children to follow in their footsteps, and they began pressuring both children to be more active in learning to train Pokemon. The elder took that poorly, and it wasn't uncommon for the young boy to be in trouble for refusing to train whatever Pokemon the pair tried to put him with, usually one of his mother's beloved Fire-types. It was when he turned fourteen when he finally had enough. He was tired of being harassed to take an interest in Pokemon and battle his "friends", and the fact that his parents were starting to do the same to his little sister had him just about ready to blow a fuse. He took Lina's hand in his own and then, in the dead of night, the two ran away from home, and Lydian didn't let them stop until they had reached Professor Sycamore's laboratory. The two Bellecourt siblings selected their first Pokemon, thanked him - even if it was a little half-hearted and mistrustful on Lydian's end - and then they began wandering. Unfortunately, the two could hardly have picked a worse time to try to make it on their own. Within a few months of them running away, the shadows began to fall over Kalos, and the young man had to make a difficult choice. He could risk getting the both of them hurt while he tried to find the money to escape... or he could send his little sister on before anything happened. It pained him to have to make that choice, but he tricked Lina onto a ship and made sure that she left Kalos before the entire region was lost. He didn't know what would happen when he was left there, he just knew that he would have to try to escape as soon as he could. For a whole year, Lydian roamed in the land covered by shadow. He fought Pokemon driven half-mad from the nightmarish realm, and he kept himself alive. And then, against all the odds, a Pidgeot rider managed to glimpse one of his camps and took him back to Kanto with them. He was one of the few who remained inside the shadowed areas for a prolonged time, so the Pokemon professors extracted all the information from him that they could. He ended up wandering again, this time in Kanto and Johto for another two years before he learned that Lina had made it to the Romantic Isles. He had enough money to purchase a ticket there, and he reunited with his sister. Their parents had been declared missing since the shadows first fell over Kalos, so he ended up taking guardianship of his sister as soon as he could, and they settled down in a small place on one of the islands to try to finish out Lina's schooling, the elder wanting her to have the chance to be normal. Of course, the shadows soon put an end to that, and they fled to Morpheus seeking refuge as their home fell to shadow. They've been there ever since, although Lydian often frequents the areas covered in shadow, figuring that if the Pokemon professors say that there's a way to make the world go back to normal, he may as well give it a shot, for Lina's sake.
