HISTORY & POKEMORPH
Caspian was born an only child. He was the son of a single father, his mother having passed away in childbirth, and although the man grieved the loss greatly, he always managed to plaster a smile on his face for his son. The boy grew up on a nature reserve for Pokemon located in Orre, and as such, despite the fact that the region had few wild Pokemon, he still got a surprising amount of interaction with Pokemon as he grew up. In fact, it wasn't uncommon for him to be scampering around at his father's heels as the man fulfilled his duties as a park ranger, but most of the Pokemon tended to be afraid of him, running away when he would get close. He was okay with that though; he'd seen enough "poachers" around the edges of the park to know that they were just trying to protect themselves. When he was five, the park got a shipment of Sawsbuck to add to the inhabitants, and as it turned out, they were the ones who were the most fond of him. He took on the care of the Sawsbucks from his father whenever he was allowed to, laughter bubbling from his lips every time they would lean down and start nibbling at his hair. He couldn't help it, it tickled, and besides, it wasn't in his nature to raise a hand to anything regardless of the circumstances. When he turned eight, however, his father could no longer homeschool him. He would have to go to the public school with the other kids, and he didn't complain, instead always greeting his father at the end of every day with a warm smile and a big hug. As it turned out, it was only when he was alone in the meadows with the Sawsbuck and other Pokemon that he would start crying, tears running down his face as he tried to patch up the injuries he got from being pushed around by the bullies. It was actually through this that he first befriended his partner, a young Chikorita that popped out one day and scolded him before tugging his pants down so that his father could see the welts on his legs from being pushed down the stairs. Through the efforts of his Pokemon friend, the bullies began to leave him alone, and the two became fast friends, the Grass-type often ambling right into the little cabin the Laufeysons called home without any warning beforehand. The Pokemon was like family, and even when it began to follow Caspian to school and sit outside the gate waiting for him, the young man could hardly find it in himself to complain. Caspian's life went on in much the same manner until his fifteenth year. He heard news of the shadows beginning to fall over Kalos, and alarmed, he tried to convince his father to find some way for them to help. Instead, he was swept away as the fear of the next loss began to overtake the reserve, superiors arguing over whether to go or to stay, to take the Pokemon or leave them. This limbo went on for two long, hard years, and then, as the shadows began to creep onto Orre, the Laufeysons had their answer. The reserve was to be abandoned, and only the very young, the very weak, the very sick, and the very old Pokemon were to be taken from the reserve. Tears in his eyes, Caspian said a tear-filled goodbye to the Sawsbuck and the reserve, but when he went to his room, there was the Chikorita that had become his friend, the Pokemon sitting on his suitcase and refusing to move. He tried to order it to leave, but he broke down into a fresh wave of tears, bawling loudly, unable to send his friend away to be lost to the shadows. That was when his father nudged his shoulder and gave him a Pokeball. When Caspian asked his friend to join him, the Chikorita went in without a second thought, and in a way, leaving wasn't so bad. He still felt like he was betraying his friends... but at least he had rescued his best friend. He and his father have settled on the Isle of Morpheus, and although it upsets him to think about his home, he usually tries to be upbeat and positive, doing what he can to help the professors at the Dream Institute so that he can one day move back to the reserve and see all his friends again. | Leafeon Grass Leaf Guard Kuroya Eighteen |
