HISTORY & POKEMORPH

★ Maia was born in Lilycove, in Hoenn. Her two parents both worked in collaboration with the museum, going on archaeological digs and dives all over the region. She spent a lot of time at home because of this, hanging around the house, exploring the city and surrounding regions. An only child, she made many friends in school, but on most days she chose to spend time alone. ★ Her parents were not letting her travel until she was eighteen, something that always bugged her. If Maia wanted anything, it was to travel. She had been taken on a trip when she was younger to the Kanto region, and desperately wanted to explore - of course, her parents had effectively kept her on a leash the whole time. ★ It was during one of her parent's trips when Maia was watching TV and heard the news about the shadow coming to all of the regions. Everyone was to leave, right away. She knew her parents, diving down at the bottom of the ocean, wouldn't get the news on time - they were on a 10 day sailing trip. She desperately tried to find someone who would take her out to find them and bring them back, but no one allowed her, and instead they shipped her off to the Romantic Isles. ★ During the ship ride there, Maia was effectively inconsolable. Her depressed state isolated her from her friends, who all had their parents; surely they felt bad, but none of them were interested in trying to comfort her. An older man gave her a sentret as a gift to cheer her up, and it worked; the soft, adorable, little squirrel pokemon was just what she needed. They were inseparable from that point on. ★ Upon arriving, Maia immediately set out with her pokemon, after saying thank-you to the man who gave it to her. She had decided to become a stronger person on her journey, and to focus on becoming a better, more well-rounded individual. Her sheltered home life in Lilycove was not preparation enough for her journey, and so she hit the ground running.
