everywhere i look i just see you on your own
maybe she was made to be elderly. maybe she was supposed to be a cute little old lady, that no one would look at twice. no one would question her being alone all the time, they would just think her friends had passed, or that she was the quiet type. a peaceful old lady in a cute little coffee shop, that would be her life. but she wasn't old. with her spoon clinking against her tea cup as she stirred in the sugar, the newspaper in front of her, the teenager wore stockings and a large fumpy sweater.
eddie was homely, the type to stay in and read, if only to postpone her eventual adventure. anyone could see she was a coward, hiding inside coffee shops from the darkness that was clouding their world. darkness had such symbolism to it; described in storybooks as the coming essence of evil, the sense of doom, the color of fear. eddie sipped her tea and flipped the page to the want ads. "maybe i shouldn't be a pokemon trainer, get a job instead." she mused.
but the two tiny pokeballs she set on the windowsill told her different. she couldn't let down her pokemon, she loved them so much after all. she started this life to search for adventure, to better herself, but she just couldn't bring herself to put herself out there. the waitress walked by and the brunette avoided eyecontact, glancing out the window, pretending there wasn't an empty seat right across from her. eddie leaned her head on the window, breathing on it to create a fog on the glass pane. "if i can't decide what to do with my life, what am i supposed to do?"
